This is my get well letter to Susan Boyle:
Dear Susan, you have achieved far more than you could possibly realise. I regard you as an iconic figurehead who has inspired plump and frumpy women in middle age to believe that their dreams can also come true.
You have proved that you don’t have to be a botoxed size zero to win votes. You have a wonderful personality and terrific talent – as well as beauty from within – which is why you captured the nation’s hearts. You have given these women the self-confidence to believe it is never too late if they keep trying.
I believe the Queen would love to hear you sing, and she would empathise only too well with the emotional exhaustion you are suffering from. Just keep believing that one day this dream will come true. We are all wishing it for you too.
Take good care, and stay true to your real friends and loving family if stardom beckons.
Warm wishes,
Ellee xxx
Very well put, Ellee. I do hope she comes out of this smiling and singing again.
I echo this as well.
Lovely 🙂 I am sure now the pressure is off, she will be back to normal soon.
It’s a lesson to those like Cowell who use her to make money and the media vultures that circle around endlessly.
What ? You mean there’s an ugly person who can actually sing ??? Noooo way !
Is this why she’s classified as a variety act ?
(If she’d been beautiful no-one would have noticed.)
Here’s mine: Dear Susan, thank you for entering Britain’s Got Talent. I enjoyed your performances so very much, I would certainly describe the first as ‘thrilling’. You have definitely proved that success in this modern celebrity culture is not dependant on fake; fake tan, fake teeth, fake nose, fake boobs, fake personality, fake talent. But the celebrity culture is a fickle beast and I am revolted at the negative media coverage you have had to endure. Please be assured that anything sensational that sells the dead tree press will be printed, though I know it must be so hard to switch off from that. I’m so pleased you continued with the competition. Best wishes in all that you do.
Philipa
PS: real women are curvy.
Pip, very true. And Kevin, I agree with your sentiments too.
Unfortunately, it was a train wreck waiting to happen. Her life will never be the same again. When it does calm down I hope she will realize her incredible achievement and be content and happy. This whole scenario showed the huge pit falls of instant fame. Susan just wanted to sing and be appreciated.
I’m sure we all wish her well but somehow I cannot see her dream happening. I would be wonderful for she has a great voice but I think she needs a lot of polishing up and I don’t mean looks.
She did have her 15 minutes and more of fame and she certainly deserved it. Good luck to you Susan Boyle.
