I am in London today at the launch of 12 new science research projects awarded £7 million to tackle some of the most damaging and widespread pests, diseases and harsh environmental conditions which can devastate crop yields across the developing world.

One award has been given to the National Institute of Agricultural Botany who I am working with at the moment, but I cannot say more right now as it is embargoed until 11am when I shall be on the train to King’s Cross. It is taking place in Westminster, I will tell you more later after I issue the press release.

However, you may need to be patient, I shall be wearing my Headway Cambridgeshire trustees’ hat this evening and meeting potential new trustees. It’s going to be a busy day.

Update: 22 Feb. Some great research projects were announced here yesterday, I will write about them later, I’m short of time at the moment and I want to do them justice.
