I shall be glued to the TV for the final episode of Channel 4’s The Search this evening which I was invited to audition for at the last minute. Just as well I
didn’t join the team, I know I would have struggled to crack those codes as my best friend is my sat nav.
However, the locations have been breathtaking, and my money is on Saskia whose multi-lingual intelligence is outstanding, as well as her fast thinking brain and agility. She truly deserves to win.
And please try and watch David Tennant tomorrow evening in the BBC 1 drama Recovery. It describes how his once normal happy life was shattered following an accident which left him with a brain injury – it could happen to any of us at any time.
He spent time learning how ordinary lives are devastated this way with members of Headway in Essex, a charity which I help as a trustee.
*My mother is staying this weekend and I hope to show her the stunning winter garden at Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge, hence the new pics in my photo gallery. it means a light blogging weekend.
Loved to have seen you in ‘The Search’, Ellee! I’m a big fan of this show and think that Saskia deserves to win. She is really clever, and a great code-breaker.
Hope you have a lovely Greek weekend with your mum – give her my regards. Sally is here this weekend too. Tomorrow is the final leg of the Simply Social jaunt to Kings Lynn – pity you are missing it although maybe your mum would like to come 🙂 its only 12 easy miles.
Thanks Geoff, As my mother insists on wearing high heels, despite all good advice to the contrary, I doubt she will make it, can’t see her in a pair of walking boots.
But I will play her favourite Greek music and indulge her in replaying a few episodes of Strictly Come Dancing which I taped specially for her which the men in my house can’t stand. It’s payback time for the endless football matches I have to watch.
Hey, Saskia won, but it was by a close shave, and more by default.
I would have loved to have been at Hatfield House searching for the clue about the Elizabeth 1 painting with the eyes and ears gown, I just adore that painting, it is one of my favourite historic paintings, I could have taken them straight there. It says so much about the duplitious era, the political backstabing – what has changed?
Did you see David Tennant on Sunday AM this morning as he gave a great plug for Headway Essex? For once, the promotion of a programme seems to have been very positive in terms of increasing understanding of an issue that could affect any of us, and I too am keen to see the show.
Yes, Saskia did win. Marianne should have remembered all the clues that were in front of them.
How refreshing to have an intelligent show with contestants that are intelligent, rather than the Jade Goody type. TV needs to show more programmes like this.
Heather, Yes, many thanks, I did see the plug on Andrew Marr’s show. I am meeting up with Headway Cambs tomorrow to discuss National Brain Injuries Week and how we can promote it locally.
Jean-Luc, Saskia had “winner” written all her right from the beginning. I guess it’s easier to work out the clues while sitting in front of a TV set, I doubt I would have been able to crack those codes.
Thanks for the advanced warning Ellee. (Recovery) Both Mrs P and I like a good ‘toot’ of a Sunday evening.
“…my husband is not just a ******* neural pathway !”
…Ah, if only it were true !!!
E-K, I’m glad you managed to watch it. It should be compulsive viewing for everyone, I recorded it for my sons to see to because it worries me to deaht that they won’t wear cycle helmets, and my son rides his bike to school in the centre of Cambridge which is heaving with traffic and has fallen off. How can you persuade teenage boys to wear a cycle helmet?
I would like to point out that from my knowledge, and certainly in the Cambridge area, there is a higher level of care provided once a brain injured person leaves hospital than the programme demonstrated. A member of Headway staff is based at Addenbooke’s Hospital and we also have the excellent Oliver Zangwill Centre nearby in Ely: http://www.ozc.nhs.uk/
Electro Kevin, I’d be careful mentioning that on line- Tony’s cyberpolice miss nothing.
But I’m glad you appreciate the finer things in life!!!
