I’ve become a big fan of the Business Hub, a unique weekly radio show broadcast for businesses in the Cambridge and Ely area which has amassed an impressive following of loyal listeners.
From this weekend the show is being extended throughout East Anglia, and the dream of the two brains behind it – social media strategist Ian McKendrick and veteran radio presenter Mark Peters, is that next year it will be broadcast on every local radio station throughout the country. These guys clearly don’t think small!
This Sunday the show, which has one simple goal – to help anyone in business succeed – will include an unmissable interview with American entrepreneur Tom Dickson He is famed for spending only $50 on a campaign which made him an overnight internet sensation. He launched a series of YouTube videos to promote his blender, the Blendtec, which includes a demonstration of its powerful blending mechanics disintegrating an iPhone to dust within seconds. As an iPhone devotee, it made me almost cry to watch.
I think there are very few objects that have escaped this blender - though no doubt Tom is always up for a challenge. His videos have been astonishingly successful and attracted ten of millions of hits; it is a fantastic example of emarketing on a small budget, but with heaps of creativity.
Tom will no doubt be sharing his pearls of wisdom with Ian and Mark, so do tune in this Sunday morning from 9am for one hour, either on Star Radio in Cambridgeshire, or KLFM 96.7 throughout other regions in East Anglia.
The Business Hub interviews are also available on podcast and an iPhone or Android app if you want to catch up with them later, as I tend to on my car’s bluetooth. In fact, almost 4,000 people download the broadcasts weekly, a glowing testament to the show’s great success. Details about the downloads can be found here.

Sounds like an interesting event.
I ahve to confess I am not a fan of the I phone. Sure it has many positives, but for a functional, robust phone with solid battery life, it leaves a bit to be desired.
I am sure, however it suits those who enjoy its many features
Ellee: I admit to finding the iPod fascinating here with a bit of humor and business combined. I was once on a “last date” with a girl who was scrolling through her iPod phone as I asked her if she had an email? Without looking up, she shook her head “No” and stated “Nothing to do with technology”. We never went out again. : )
