This is how Madeleine McMcCann looks today, according to police who have issued this age progression picture to show her as a nine-year-old and to mark the 5th anniversary of her disappearance on 3 May 2007.
I think she looks older than nine, I’m not sure how accurate these age progression images are. But what the release of this picture does is provide hope to Madeleine’s parents, especially as it comes with a statement from Scotland Yard saying they genuinely believe she is alive and have identified new leads for investigation. It’s a bitter sweet consolation for the McCanns if police in Portugal refuse to re-open their investigation.
With all my heart I hope that Madeleine is safe and well and will be found one day very soon. What loving parent is ever going to give up trying to discover the truth about their missing child?
There are many other families with missing loved ones who I have written about on my blog, and they also want answers. They want the police to continue their search for them too and I’m sure they would cry with happiness if Scotland Yard offered their support. I met some of these families on a march in London and you can read some of their heart breaking stories here.
And are the British police trying to solve the disappearance of Carole Day, a British ex-pat living in Hong Kong whose husband was a judge, and vanished after travelling to Manila on a business trip on 10th September, 2010? Can Scotland Yard help her family too?
In memory of those who are still missing.
Scotland Yard are too busy arresting journalists, I’m afraid.
Maggie. I would despair if I were her father. I’d want to know one way or the other. Everything and nothing.
It must be sheer pergutory.
I meant Maddie. (Typing too fast)
I wonder if the publicity would cause someone to try to get rid of the evidence?
Ellee: It is beyond heartbreak to evenconsider what these parents are going through. I hope the case is opened and kept open until there is some form of resolution. And my prayers are for good news!
It is beyond heartbreak to evenconsider what these parents are going through.
If they were innocent – yes, that would be true.
A weird thing happen to me the other day I had seen a girl just look like that girl and had seen her on the 3rd May 2012 and the same month and day that she had vanished.
What happen was I was about to get some bedding and a look alike just like that image in the photo, I had seen in Debenhams between 3pm – 4pm I did not have my watch on me but when I got home it was 4pm. I was going up to the top floor and had seen a couple the woman was trying to block the girl from me and she was pointing at the paper that I had in my hand of a photo just like her when she was young and the man that the other woman he was with looks like Gary Mccain but it could have not of been, another person that must have looked like him. The kid was standing up on top of the steps looking down and waving her arms to get notice.
Then I walked past the couple and the woman smiled and said to the man let him past, then the couple had walked away.
I bought the bedding and the staff was all over the shop floor in Debenhams and I did not feel unsafe and walked past the couple again and a kid was standing there with her arms folded looking and smileing at me like she is trying to say to me I am Madeline.
Even the kid was joking as the couple was making all out to be as normal as possible.
I posted this message on a website and a lady in Poultigule said “This sounds very strange call the police as they are in search of sightings like this one that I have seen.”.
