I’m heading off to Shakespeare Country soon to watch the royal wedding with friends – wouldn’t our famous playwright have composed the most wonderful sonnet for them!
It’s clear for all to see how radiantly happy Prince William and Kate are, they seem like equals in many ways, and I cannot imagine him being cruel to her in the same way that Prince Charles was with Diana. Their body language shows a closeness and intimacy – and I know she will look stunning in her wedding dress.
I wonder what their new title will be, will it be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – giving them close ties to where I live.
I them every happiness and am looking forward to a day of celebrations.
It was a lovely ” do and and this time it really does appear to be two people in love with each other rather than one with someone else !
Shame the odious Camilla had to be there though I bet she didnt feel all that happy . She must have known how many people were thinking it should have been his mother there not her.
Long live Queen Elizabeth so we wont have to have Charles and her for long.
I hope you enjoyed watching it with your friends,it was certainly a lovely event. Some of my neighbours are celebrating in their front gardens 🙂
To be fair to Charles he had an overbearing father. He did not want to marry Diana but was forced to through protocol and expectations.
Charles has been a far better father to William. And it shows.
He deserves credit for this. I believe there will be true happiness in this union and Charles has played a big part in it.
I disagree that Camilla is ‘odious’. This might suit people of a pantomime dame simplicity but rather reduces the matter to a childish level. I bet William and Catherine are extremely fond of her as it happens. That seemed to be the case today.
Congratulations to William and Catherine (I never use the name Kate). She had a perfect dress that was far better than the creasy mess Diana had on 30 years ago.
Nobody is ” forced ” in this country to marry any one.
Camilla Shand Kidd chose to marry someone other than dithering Charles .
I suspect that like his uncle David this is when he really starts to get interested in women , when they belong to someone else.
Camilla is odious ,although married she decided it would be fun to still carry on with Charles behind Dianas back .
She was 10 years older than Diana and to say the least she was a woman of the world.
She belittled and humiliated this damaged girl ( whos mother was known in posh circles as a bolter ) and though Diana even faced her and told her to leave her husband alone she did not .
Charles is self centred and does ” pity me , Im so misunderstood ”
Even the Queen called Camilla ” that wicked woman ” how right she was.
Interesting to note that today Dianas best and most loyal friend Rosa Monckton was not invited , bet that was the Duches of Cornwall again .
You agree that Diana was a ‘damaged’ person. My sympathies but I really wonder at what age and by whom. She clearly didn’t ring Charles’ bells despite being one of the most beautiful women in the world (though I could never see it myself)
It was not the Royals that killed her in her 30s. It was a drunk driver employed by a playboy who did that.
The Royals have learnt much from the marriages of Charles and Andrew. And also their upbringing. This is evident in how William and Harry have turned out.
Charles never struck me as being a confident chap when he was young as you say (dithering.) Again we agree. Both Harry and William are confident.
That must at least say something good for Charles and his input into their upbringing.
Indeed should this marriage succeed you should be fair and acknowledge that. If it fails then I don’t doubt you’d be first in with the boot.
Charles has stuck by Camilla. Never lost interest – nor found interest in any other man’s wife. So that discounts your theory about one predilection.
A mistake was made early on in his life. My feelings are that he was being misguided and under pressures ordinary people wouldn’t understand. Perhaps it was deemed that she wasn’t pretty enough.
That’s a credit to Charles too. He sees deeper than outward beauty.
Dear EK ,
Think you have forgotten Lady Dale ( Kanga ) Tyron , another woman later humiliated by Charles and his cronies.
The boys were taught compassion by Diana not the Royal family. Thats why they are so normal in comparison to much of the rest of the family .
It was she who took William to see how the poor and destitute had often to live not Charles and Co .
Charles has always been too full of himself for such matters to pay any part of his life.
I believe that William and Catherine will be OK , he is sensitive and protective and in Catherine I see much of the strength of Elizabeth Bowes Lyon , later the Queen Mother , again a girl chosen by love .
Charles however is married to Camilla , more than a little shade of David and Mrs Simpson and about equally detested.
We watched the Royal Wedding on tv in Simon’s house in Australia! Lovely!
Even royals deserve true love. I hope it happens for them. It’s just hard to imagine having Charles for your father, though.
From the other side of the world we sympathize with the English people for the state of their economy. While there has always been rivalry between Australia and the UK, I think that many people here are honestly wishing the newly weds the best of lives. the wedding was pretty much broadcast on prime time last Friday night here and had a huge audience.
I think it was a great symbolic method of reuniting the whole UK country (well at least England) with happiness in what is sometimes considered bleak times.
