The surprise visit of Hollywood hearthrob Johnny Depp to a primary school after being sent a letter by a nine-year-old schoolgirl asking him to help her classmates “mutiny” against the teachers just proves that if you don’t ask, you don’t get, and nothing is impossible.
Shocked staff at the school in Greenwich had only 10 minutes notice that the world’s most famous pirate was going to appear with some fellow shipmates; they are filming at a nearby naval college. How could he refuse the enchanting letter penned by Beatrice Delap which said:

He is a true star in every sense of the word. He does these things because he is a decent down to earth bloke not because he wants publicity.
I remember reading of a similar thing he did at Great Ormond Street hospital a couple of years ago. He spent hours on the children’s wards dressed as Jack Sparrow by way of a thank you for saving his daughter’s life, he then went on to donate £1 million to the hospital.
He’s a great person and let’s be honest he’s pretty dishy too!
Veronica, yes, I remember the Great Ormond Street visit, thanks for reminding me. What a lovely person he s and, yes, pretty dishy too!
What a top man!! I love this story! Some so called stars are so full of their own importance that they will not even give you the time of day, let alone an autograph.
To go to all this trouble for a local school shows that he really cares about the people who have made him what he is today!
If only others could have a similar attitude then the world would be a much better place.
Stephen, yes, I totally agree.
Doing something simply to see some smiles on childrens faces. What a true star. I now forgive him for murdering Charlie and the chocolate factory! What a huge star with a huge heart. Stories like these are rarer than stories about someone being killed by about 100000 to 1. Good for you captain jack! 😀
