The unconditional love of a mother, the trust of young children and joy of being with a family, is heart rending in this 40 second NSPCC video. Sadly, it’s not something all children experience.
This evocative NSPCC campaign reminds us that children are our future, and asks, “what will you leave the children in your life?” It is seeking support, a gift in your will, to continue helping the thousands of children it protects and supports after suffering a painful and traumatic experience.
I keep telling my sons they don’t know how lucky they are. Love is priceless, but for young people unfortunate enough not to live in a supportive environment, for those who suffer abuse, the NSPCC is always there for them. Their trained staff are just a phone call away.
Every year the NSPCC Helpline answers more than 79,000 calls a year from people who are concerned that a child is at risk of abuse.
I hope I leave my two sons confidence and self-belief in the fact that they can do anything they set out to achieve.
Unfortunately there are those about who wish to prevent that from happening.
James. I hope I have given them the grounding to believe in themselves. It is what will carry them throughout life, and the many challenges they will face.
In my own experience, I know how lucky I was to grow up in a loving home. Even though my parents were divorced ever since I was little, it never stopped them from raising me to be a good person. I was always supported and loved, no matter what I did. That kind of relationship is priceless and it saddens me that not every child in the world doesn’t have the same experience. It’s a good thing the NSPCC is out there to help.
