Merry Christmas wishes to you all. For the first time ever, my husband’s family and mine will all be together on Christmas Day. I always wonder if it will be the last Christmas we share with our ailing grandparents, I love hearing their stories of old when so little meant so much at Christmas. The important thing is being together, and showing some tolerance.
I send you my love and warm wishes for the festive season.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas, but my thoughts particularly are for those who have lost loved ones, for those who are lonely. Christmas is not fun for everyone.

That sounds a bit scary Ellee. Hope it went well. We had a quiet time in our new house.
Christmas Day was lovely, though sadly no time for church in the morning because my in-laws turned up unexpectedly with a shiny new bike for David. We went to my sister’s house in Wisbech and her home was decorated so beautifully, she was a perfect hostess.
Today it is my turn, I shall be cooking for everyone, at least 16. I’ve already prepared my pigs in blankets. We shall be having a large loin of pork and leg of lamb as a change from turkey. I know I shall look forward to a rest tomorrow, and my bird watching in the afternoon at the Welney Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
Ellee – so glad you and yours had a lovely day and I hope all others enjoyed Christmas too, I always look on Christmas as the birth of new hope. I’ve been showing my father Rebecca’s pics and was pleased to see you’ve been having fun with your camera too – I hope your tooth hasn’t been giving you too much trouble. Dad has promised me a play with his new Nikon and I found the link to the swan feeding most interesting. Sounds like a great afternoon at the wildfowl trust 🙂

Sim-O, you are absolutely right. This was certainly tested to the limit. My family turned up 1 3/4 hours late for dinner due to car problems and didn’t even phone me, but I didn’t bat an eyelid when they finally arrived and managed to serve two sittings of hot dinners to my family and neighbours.
I forgot to mention in comment 30 that my husband and two sons went to a football match in the afternoon while I slaved over a stove and cooked dinner for 16. I think I showed plenty of goodwill, and it was not done grudgingly.
