I am meeting a fine bunch of bloggers today for the first time, and as they write under pseudonyms, I have no idea what they look like. They will have the advantage as my photo is published on my blog.
I certainly admire the literary flair of Winchester Whisperer, and shall be thrilled to meet the famed Wife in the North. King Lear is very much a mystery man to me, but in a few hours, I shall be much wiser and clued up.
One of them is obviously well connected as we are lunching at The Carlton Club. And to think it would never have happened if I hadn’t started writing a blog…
*Apologies to my regular readers if I haven’t visited your sites recently, I’ve had a very hectic week. Yesterday I worked a 14 hour day and today, after returning home from London and feeding the family, I will have to dash into Cambridge to catch up with Jonathan Aitken and the CHASTE sex trafficking tour. I will visit asap, you are not forgotten.
You are being allowed to have lunch in the Carlton Club?
Have they changed the rules or are you going in disguise?
Enjoy the lunch, i’ve heard the Carlton Club is quite nice.
I presume this is not a lunch then in the back of a Vauxhall???
The anonymity/pseudonym thing is most intriguing – how on earth will you recognise each other and not end up eating alongside completely confused strangers?
Wish I was in that group of bloggers. I’d like to meet people who I know through the blogasphere.
Oh, I wish I could be there!
Hi Elle, I thought it was a pun
Chaste – & – sex trafficking in the same ‘sentence’
And at Great St Mary’s too, how did that one slip past me.
Funny thing is the other day I was reading about “Sex in the City” in the Cambridge Evening News – all about nice places to go for a ‘walk’ in the city
It’s going to be fun and with four of you there will be no shortage of conversation. Looking forward to the report on lunch.
While I was waiting for the comment to load I noticed you are reading Putin’s Russia. I am reading A Russian Diary by Anna Politkovskaya.
We had a wonderful time only unfortunately, wife in the north could not make it as one of her children was sick. King Lear recognised me in the drawing and we were joined by his daughter, who I have met before, but not made the connection.
WW is very elegant and charming and I would like to thank her for arranging this lunch, and look forward to the next one when hopefully wifey will be able to join us.
Anonymous Bloggers should be banned!
lol
Anonymous bloggers should be banned Jeremy Jacobs? Give a man a mask and he’ll tell you the truth. You only post as yourself because you’re handsome – own up, that picture isn’t you is it? You’re really a short blonde woman on income support named ‘Loretta’.
Ellee,
Agree with Jeremy Jacobs #12 re. Anonymous Bloggers, just so long as he really means anonymous (not registered)and not bloggers like myself who prefer ‘anonymity’.
Anyway, where’s that full lunch report? Three sentences hardly suffices!
ST
ST, This is a bit tricky because as these bloggers chose to be anonymous, I have to respect that. I will say they were very interesting people, it was very jovial, the food was excellent, I wished we had had longer and that wifey had been able to join us.
The choose to lunch with us Ellee! Call me. Let’s fix something up with Iain or Daniel Finklestein.
I wouldn’t want to meet a complete stranger in a restaurant in London, or anywhere else for that matter. Who knows what weirdos lurk behind some of these anonymous bloggers.
It was very good to meet you, Ellee. WITN is definitely on for next year so we’ll have to have a free afternoon after that one. Hope you enjoyed your meeting in Cambridge.
