I haven’t upgraded my mobile phone for over two years and realised I was paying a
high tariff on my contract, especially when calling other mobile phones.
After hearing about a great offer that Sally signed up for with T-Mobile (the same company I use), I decided to follow suit and have just switched over to a Sony Ericsson K810i. And it was a free upgrade. Sally has been most impressive in using her new phone from Corsica to update her blog and flickr pics.
I particularly wanted a phone which had a radio so I could catch up with any urgent news bulletins if away from my desk; this has it all, and so much more, including free calls to other mobile networks. Let’s hope it lives up to its 5-star recommendation. Most importantly, let’s hope my sons can show me how to use it!
Sounds like just the job for you Ellee in your hectic life! Mine has much more functions on it than I could possibly ever know how to use. Apart from phone calls and texts, the only thing I use it for is the alarm clock – needed for dawn assaults on mountain summits 😉
Very cool Elle, but can it make calls from Everest like my Motorola . . an important consideration for flatlands of Cambridgeshire and the Wash.
David – how often have you used it from Everest? 😉
I remember now about your brilliant promotion there, I’m sorry I forgot to check out Motorola.
It is actually North Norfolk where I have most difficulties in getting a signal – as well as in Tesco and Waitrose in Ely for some inexplicable reason.
Now when you get a new cell phone it comes with a hundred page manual! And it’s always completely different from your old one! I just want the 3 minute inservice please. Usually I have just about mastered the old one when it’s time to get a new one.
Motorola are rubbish, they break down all the time. Sony Erikson and Nokia are the only makes worth having.
And any old heap of junk can get a signal on Everest if you pay for a satellite link up.
Mobile phone…I suppose I’ll get one eventually.
Did you hear that under 24s were asked if they’d give up their mobiles for a million quid (that is, for life), and 1/3rd said that they wouldn’t?
Personally, I prefer Nokias. I think it’s just the way they do the menus. I’m currently coveting the N95 that seems to do everything. I don’t have a GPS device, and having one in the phone seems very useful.
Tim, I was tempted to get one with a GPS. I must admit I din’t really investigate them, I thought they might be too complicated.
My phone arrived this morning and I tell you my two sons are quite green with envy. The camera looks really impressive.
Hi Ellee, what a coincidence. I got this exact phone a few weeks ago, and it’s really good. I was hoping to be able to blog from it, but it’s only set up for Blogger.
I’m still finding my way around it, though.
Bel, I am hoping Sally can show me how to use my phone to update my blog, she has a similar one and is successfully doing this from Corsica at the moment.
It looks like I have to unexpectedly buy another phone too, having just washed my son’s jeans with his phone still in the pocket. Needless to say, it will not work.
