I’ve been tagged by Dizzy and Norfolk blogger to list 10 things I would never do, as if life isn’t busy enough, so here goes:
1. Say “ignorance is bliss”.
2. A parachute jump.
3. Retake my Maths GCSE.
4. Give up long country walks.
5. Start smoking again.
6. Sing a solo.
7. Own a pet python.
8. Join the BNP.
9. Forget to apply my daily sunscreen.
10. Give up my daily fix of newsprint.
It’s now my turn to pass on this MEME to cityunslicker, Sicily Scene, Geoff, Maalie, Guthrum, Bel, Neo Jacobins, PC Bloggs, Jeremy, Nourishing Obscurity and Heather Yaxley – hope I haven’t broken any rules by adding an extra one.
Hi Ellee, can you explain this to me please? Am I supposed to do something? And if so, where do I put it? Jim
Jim, It’s my first time too, you basically write up a list on your site of 10 things you would never do, and then ask other bloggers to do the same. It’s called a meme, it is silly I know, but at least this one doesn’t take too long. Don’t feel obligated.
Wiki: “The term “meme” (IPA: [miË?m], not [mÉ›m], or [mimi]), coined in 1976 by famous evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, refers to a unit of cultural information transferable from one mind to another. Dawkins said, Examples of memes are tunes, catch-phrases, clothes fashions, ways of making pots or of building arches. A meme propagates itself as a unit of cultural evolution and diffusion — analogous in many ways to the behavior of the gene (the unit of genetic information). Often memes propagate as more-or-less integrated cooperative sets or groups, referred to as memeplexes or meme-complexes.”
P.S. Jim, If you check out Dizzy and Norfolk blogger’s links, you will see what they have done too, this could be your first of many memes.
Hey, I trust you’re not taking Richard Dawkins’ name in vain! After Darwin, he’s my absolute hero! Brilliant scientist and communicator!
I’ll see what I can do re the meme. By and large, I’m not really into these “self-perpetuating” internet things.
Jim, I guessed you have read his latest book, it’s great to have a hero, mine is Lord Horatio Nelson.
Let this meme be a new experience for you, you might discover some interesting info.
you should rethink number 8
1. Kill someone intentionally
2. Vote for the EU
3. Visit Syria
4. Become unfit
5. Lose my sense of humour
6. Smoke reguarly
7. Hit a woman
8. Never say “no comment”
9. Give up masages
10. Stop learning
sorry, massages
10 ain’t enough Ellee
Thanks Jeremy, Hope you stick to it.
OK, just read your explanation above and shall do.
Hi, Ellee. You were right – I did enjoy it. I’ve just tagged you with a meme too!
I am certainly with you on No:8. Actually, I think these lists are rather fun. Guthrum tagged me on this one so I had to dig up 10 of my own.
Is owning a pet python that bad, Ellie?
Have done my own list (http://paulburgin.blogspot.com/2006/11/dale-challenge-10-things-i-would-never.html), suffice to say I agree with you about 5, 7, and 8. As for No 2 it would be under duress and given my fear of heights I suspect I will have a heart attack before I get a chance to open the rip cord, or before someone does it for me!
