I returned to one of my favourite holiday spots in Norfolk last night to hear the great tenor Jose Carreras who had teamed up with stunning soprano Kate Royal for a concert at Holkham Hall.
I was thrilled to bump into my old journo pal Richard Parr, pictured with friends
Helen and Jenny. We both worked together on the local rag in King’s Lynn many moons ago, he was reporting on the event for the EDP and included quotes from me.
The programme was very romantic and the stately home provided a fabulous backdrop, but what a pity it wasn’t a sell out, maybe because people assumed tickets had sold out and did not think it was worth trying, that was the impression I had.
Richard told me that Iain is going to start writing a regular column for the EDP. Iain was in regular contact with this daily paper last year when he contested a local seat in the general election. It is not considered to favour Tories, so this is a great coup for Iain. I shall look forward to reading it.
I’ve never been Norfolk way, as it’s not anywhere in my area (Birmingham), but it looks as if you had a great time, Ellee.
Ellee, I’ve already started my column. It appears every other Saturday (the next one is next Saturday)
Iain, I get the EDP every day, but missed last your debut last Saturday due to hols. I look forward to your report next week.
Is it the Grauniad next?
Jean-Luc, you should try it, it’s just as great out of season, in fact more so, particularly if you enjoy walking and a spot of twitching. In fact, Andrew Motion is raving about North Norfolk in today’s S.Telegraph.
Ooooo i am sooooo envious! I bet it was brilliant. Ellee, loved all your new photos. It appears you all had a super holiday :o)
