I am thrilled to be taking Rosa’s story back to Merthyr Tydfil where she was born for the launch of The Royal Maid Finds Love when it is released by Penguin on Thursday 22nd October. It is the second in a two book series and follows on from Secrets of the Royal Maid which was published in April 2026.

I will be joined by Rosa’s daughter, Jan, who told me her mother’s extraordinary story of when she was a poor seventeen-year-old  pit miner’s daughter who during WWII saw a notice in a shop window in Merthyr advertising for staff to work in a big house in London – and it turned out to be Buckingham Palace.

The launch event is being held at Cyfarthfa Castle on 22nd October and will celebrate the publication of both books. Tckets are free, and can be reserved by completing an online booking form here.

We are delighted that local historian Huw Williams will host the event where Jan will talk about the background of Rosa’s life and the research that went into writing the books. Huw has been a great supporter from the beginning and fact checked all my historical references for which I am very grateful.
