Hayley Turner is an outstanding woman who is achieving terrific success in a man’s world – and is sharing her success with Headway Cambridgeshire, the charity I support.

The UK’s top woman jockey last week won became the female rider to win a Group One race outright, the Darley July Cup at Newmarket . As she celebrates her historic victory, she took time out to donate a piece of autographed racing memorabilia to Headway Cambridgeshire.

Golden girl Hayley has kindly donated to Headway an autographed display photo showing the racing colours she was wearing when she achieved her historic victory; it is available for sale on Ebay. Please do check it out as you could end up owning a unique piece of horse racing memorabilia.

Hayley has far to go, and her talent has been recognised by many, including the media. This is what The Times said about her three years ago:

“The trouble with being Hayley Turner is that she is so damned good; and she is a woman. She is the most successful British female jockey. She is a history-maker, a barrier-breaker, but she does not want you to think of her this way. Her ambition is simply to be considered an unusually good jockey, not a jockey who is unusually good for a girl.”

I would like to congratulate Hayley on her terrific success, and very much look forward to meeting her next week in Newmarket to discuss her support for Headway Cambridgeshire.
