By an incredible stroke of luck, we are off to the Olympics next year! My husband has just discovered that our application for a number of athletic events with our two sons has been successful. We have tickets for six races! We had thought the worst as he believed didn’t that any money had been sucked out of his bank account, and then, hey presto, he noticed the big dip and realised we were in luck.

We will be watching the 10,000 metres men’s finals, the 100 meters women’s semi-final, the women’s 100 meters and 400 metres finals, 400 metres men’s hurdles semi-finals and the men’s long jump finals. They are all on the same evening next August.

I would have loved watching the gymnastics or diving, they are always my favourite, but the men in the house chose, and I know they will be exciting events to watch. They missed out on the boxing though – thank goodness for that!

My husband is so chuffed, he says it’s the talk of his office as nobody there has had the same kind of luck; he is walking on cloud nine as if he has won the lottery!

It actually seems too much to me, I feel that we should give some of our tickets back so others who haven’t been successful can go too.

Have you had any luck?
