I have spent the last week at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute working with their media team to promote the biomedical research being carried out by their scientists, the kind of research that contributes to making discoveries which make a huge difference to all our lives, from its Cancer Genome Project and research leading to a vaccine for malaria, as well  migraine, MRSA and human evolution.  It is renowned for its immense contribution to the Human Genome Project.  I have a three month contract there.

It complements the work I am doing with Abcodia, and this week we issued a press release announcing the appointment of their new Director of Science, Dr Wendy Alderton. I have also just edited their video of a biobank at University College College for which they have exclusive IP commercialision rights, and are seeking collaborative partners to use its serum samples to identify molecular biomarkers for earlier discovery of many diseases, including cancer and arthritis.

My work with Headway Cambridgeshire is also very busy as I am leading on two big projects – a new website design and the appointment of a new Chief Executive.

This weekend promises some respite as I am visiting my mother today, having dinner with friends this evening, catching up with gardening (digging in bags of manure), visiting the gym and cooking a huge roast dinner for Father’s Day tomorrow when I will be pampering hubby and pa-in-law, and ………
