I can’t imagine a Christmas without family. It’s become a ritual that we spend Christmas Day with my sister in my home town of Wisbech and everyone visits me on Boxing Day. We try to gather as many of the family together as possible.
But it’s each to their own as I have three friends who have decided against a family Christmas Day. One couple in London (with grown up children) plan to drive to the south coast for a walk along a favourite beach. Another couple (with young children) plan to pack up a picnic and head out into the quiet countryside. And the third couple (no children) prefer to spend their festivities bird watching on the North Norfolk coast.
Paradoxically, a man I spoke to in my local post office this week told me Christmas meant nothing to him because he has no family.
So whichever way you plan to spend Christmas, do enjoy it, try to relax as well, and I wish you every happiness.

Merry Christmas Ellee!
Happy christmas to you and your family.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. I have spent the last few Christmass just me and Arni … we decided to spend the day on our own and family join if they can on boxing day , that includes my sons .. as families are getting bigger. And of course if a couple have split up , then plans have to made differently . And don’t forget the other set of Parents (in-laws) .. they like their rituals too.
I’m like you Ellee, Christmas is very much a family event for me too. I’m looking forward to seeing you all over the holidays. I’m off work for a week from tomorrow onwards – I can’t wait for the break!
Take care, see you soon!
Merry Christmas 🙂 XXX

One can still enjoy it though, if only for the peace and quiet. Merry Christmas, Ellee.
first Christmas without my boys…. 🙁 🙁
A walk with Geoff and a picnic sounds perfect to me 🙂 but as I always have to work cannot ever see that happening 🙁
I will be lucky enough to spend Christmas with my wonderful friends, who support me in all my mad adventures and whom I love dearly.
Happy Christmass, Ellee.
I’ve posted a Christmas video on my blog.

Happy Christmas Ellee 🙂
On Boxing Day of 1980 we went birdwatching at Minsmere on the Suffolk coast. It was brutally cold, but clear and quite lovely. May you and your loved ones have a fine Christmas, Ellee.
We’re having a quiet Xmas together. No visitors, no visiting this year. It will be bliss!
I hope that you and yours have a very happy Christmas
Have a wonderful Christmas with your family Ellee, family and friends are so important and it’s a time to reinforce that.
How sad that the man said it meant nothing to him as he has no family.
Hope you have a very Happy Christmas, Ellee.
If you have a family to share Xmas with, you are very lucky. It makes me so angry to hear people grumbling about it. Merry Xmas to you and yours, Ellee. x
I hope you had a great Christmas Ellee. I spent my Christmas morning kayaking on Coniston Water dodging the ice floes!
Hi Ellee, I hope you had a wondrous day and may 2011 be better than 2010!
PS I used to know somebody from Wisbech. Isn’t Wisbech a bit like Wigan with its pier? It’s called a beach but there’s no sea for miles..?
