I have had an amazing year so far, and it isn’t even the end of
February. I frequently receive fabulous invitations to meet the kind of people I would never normally rub shoulders with – and it’s all thanks to writing my blog.
It’s also due to my blog that I shall be writing a book soon, if all goes to plan, thanks to the support of fellow blogger Richard Havers. (pic)
I already have an ace London agent interested following a personal introduction from Richard who is a very accomplished author on famous musicians. I didn’t realise the extent of his talent until I met his agent. His books were among the great and good scattered on the coffee table when I called in to his office to meet him recently. Richard’s subjects include Bill Wyman, Gary Barlow, Frank Sinatra, The Stones and Tony Visconti, as well as the airline industry.
I shall be writing about a very interesting and unusual person who lives near Cambridge on a subject totally unrelated to my normal work. The agent is confident there will a market for it. I have to submit a first chapter and an outline of the remaining chapters. I need to use a tape recorder for my interviews and Richard suggested I buy an MP3 recorder which I can play straight back from my computer.
Does anyone have any personal recommendations?
I have a great feeling that this is going to be one of my best years ever, so many new opportunities are coming my way and I’m enjoying all my new challenges.
*Work is busier right now, so if my blogging seems lighter, you are not forgotten…
Congratulations on having a great year so far and it getting better… well done you – it’s good to see hard work well rewarded.
Well really!
I have written a great many things NONE of which has ever been published and does anyone help me? NO!
Not even Mr Havers who has a lot of spare time on his hands.. .
*winks*
Your optimism will propel you to a super year, Ellee.
Mutley, did you ask me for help? 🙂 Good luck Ellee, although with your drive luck may well not come into it.
Good for you Ellee, you deserve it, very well done, hope all goes well, pip x
Thanks everyone, but I need advice about buying an MP3 player. Any ideas? And I’ve still got to come up with a gripping first chapter before this gets firmed up. I mentioned it now mainly because of the MP3 player.
And yes, I do feel very optimistic right now.
Great news. Congratulations, Ellee!
Congratulations, Ellee!
Re portable MP3 recorder, I recommend either a Microtrack II or a Marantz PMD620.
I’ve used a Microtrack for the past couple of years and would swear by it. My podcasting partner Shel Holtz has the Marantz; he swears by that one.
You can buy either one at Dolphin Music in the UK – http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/
Information on both respectively:

I believe that the Cowon iAudio MP3 players have a recording option (they’re also renowned for their audio playback quality).
Congratulations Ellee, great news indeed. And I’m glad the outing with the Archbishop went well. You are having a great year.
Mutley, hang in there, your day may yet come!
Tim and Neville, thanks for the recommendations, I will check them out.
Congratulations Ellee. How was your evening with the Archbishop?
WW, it went really well, thanks for asking, I did update by blog post about it: https://elleeseymour.com/2008/02/22/my-big-challenge-today/
