I have had an amazing year so far, and it isn’t even the end of image February. I frequently receive fabulous invitations to meet the kind of people I would never normally rub shoulders with – and it’s all thanks to writing my blog.

It’s also due to my blog that I shall be writing a book soon, if all goes to plan, thanks to the support of fellow blogger Richard Havers. (pic)

I already have an ace London agent interested following a personal introduction from Richard who is a very accomplished author on famous musicians. I didn’t realise the extent of his talent until I met his agent. His books were among the great and good scattered on the coffee table when I called in to his office to meet him recently. Richard’s subjects include Bill Wyman, Gary Barlow, Frank Sinatra, The Stones and Tony Visconti, as well as the airline industry.

I shall be writing about a very interesting and unusual person who lives near Cambridge on a subject totally unrelated to my normal work. The agent is confident there will a market for it. I have to submit a first chapter and an outline of the remaining chapters. I need to use a tape recorder for my interviews and Richard suggested I buy an MP3 recorder which I can play straight back from my computer.

Does anyone have any personal recommendations?

I have a great feeling that this is going to be one of my best years ever, so many new opportunities are coming my way and I’m enjoying all my new challenges.
