Neville Hobson is to social media what Iain is to Tory bloggers – an icon, of a kind. He is always one step ahead of the game, what he doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing.
So you can image how flabbergasted I was when I was idly flicking through Technorati and discovered he had been writing about me, recommending me as an excellent woman blogger. I feel terrible for not promoting the BlogHer conference he referred to, but I have to admit it passed me by, probably because of my recent hols. I still regard myself as a new girl on the block and feel immensely flattered at Neville’s recommendation.
I also found that MayorWatch had a few kind words for me too. This is all a bit nerve-wracking, I feel I have to maintain certain standards now ….
could I have your autograph before your fame kicks off?
Tom
Well, you write about some interesting things, Ellee. Off the track of much of the usual topics I read, but you have some great opinions.
I’ve been lurking in your RSS feed for a while.
And I see I need to get a better photo taken…
Injured cyclist, ha, ha, ha.
Neville, thanks again, I write about whatever catches my fancy, I’m never short of ideas – just time!
I must now reciprocate and add you to my blogroll, I know it looks a bit of a mish mash at the moment, but it will soon look totally different.
Hi Injured cyclist – pipped you to the post – Ellee signed my copy of The Little Red book. Maybe I should try ebaying it 🙂
Geoff was the person who first got me into blogging so I wrote a dedication in the book along the lines of: “To Geoff, who made it all possible”.
And tomorrow he is walking 14 miles to my house to help launch my new WordPress site which is my birthday present from him. All will be revealed soon. I am very grateful to him, he is a good friend.
I think a lot of it has to do with your ability to regularly update your blog multiple times a day. Iain Dale does it because he hasn’t got a job and you because your a PR person.
Chris, I normally only write one post a day, today is an exception. I think my strength is that I really enjoy writing and being creative, I like to think I have a down to earth, common sense approach on issues that affect us all. I find blogging endlessly stimulating and meeting others who are like minded and fun and learning something new. It is a fabulous, interactive way of sharing information and views. And it’s free – but time consuming and my family do complain about this.
Chris, P.S. I am also naturally inquisitive and have a probing mind. These points are all foremost to being a PR person. Blogging also gives me great pleasure – and I’m not a geek!
