Three years ago I was invited to talk about my work at a businesswomen’s lunch. I remember preparing my speech in advance, but when the time time, I froze on the spot and was gripped with fear, I was truly awful.
Since then I have taken steps to overcome this, and am succeeding. I have always yearned to return to the venue where I performed so badly and make a brilliant delivery, to show them the stuff I am really made of. And that’s what I did today.
The Cambridge Businesswomen’s Network summer lunch is always too good to miss, so it was the perfect opportunity to face my demons and promote my PR blogging skills. I still can’t believe that those shaky nerves are a thing of the past, no more bright red face and shaky voice. I really can’t praise Cambridge Toastmasters and Mark Newey enough.
Well done Ellee – can see you standing for election soon 🙂
Excellent Ellee, to face your fear and conquer it must have been very satisfying. We all have fears but never try to face them avoiding them instead and so i am very happy for you and proud you have faced yours. Well done
Trudy
Geoff, why knows, I always say anything is possible if you want it badly enough, but I enjoy being the campaigner and am very much looking forward to helping Julian win his seat in York Outer.
Trudy, I wanted to bottle out when I got there, but wasn’t able to. When I arrived, they said: “You can have two minutes after Elizabeth and before Business Link”. Now I’m really glad I did it.
Thanks for the praise Ellee…however I must point out that it’s you who deserves it not me! My work starts from the premise that my clients already have all of the resources within them that they need in order to achieve what they want. My job is simply to guide you through finding those hidden resources. You made the change, not me! Well done you, that’s fantastic! Mark
Not many get such a chance – to return to the very spot where one wishes things had been different and make them different on the second opportunity!
You are blessed Ellee – with true friends that gave you that precious chance for a second go-round! Treasure them – as they surely treasure you!
Blessings!
