Why is it impossible to get a straight answer to a straight question?
Surely our government has to be accountable for how it spends of our public money.
The housewives favourite Andrew Lansley is quoted in today’s Cambridge Evening News as saying that an inquiry into the scale of health service debts could reflect the Government’s “loss of control” of the NHS.
It seems the Shadow Health Secretary is still trying to get answers on this. He said:
“On Tuesdy, December 6, Patricia Hewitt said the Department of Health would manage the deficit down to £250 million. The Government won’t admit it, but the net deficit may well be three times that figure.”
That is really worrying. What would the angry nurses have done last week if they had known this when confronting Hewitt? What other health services/jobs will face the axe if this bombshell is true? Are we just experiencing the tip of the ieberg?
I don’t understand why the Government can’t be made to come clean about its spending. Can’t a question be put to them in the House, how can they not tell us?
P.S. I took this pic of Andrew during the general election campaign last year. We later passed some workmen in Clacton who were smoking and they looked gobsmacked when he told them to give up the weed, it was bad for their health.
I totally agree with your comments
Andrew, but the truly terrifying
reality is the whole country is out
of control! Health, education,
immigration, the civil service, green belt policy, and so we could go on… In short everything which is vital to our everyday needs to
function as the civilised and caring society that was once our pleasure to work for and live in.
