I have been asked to give this competition a plug.

Fame and fortune (hopefully), as well as a much coveteted award fromConservativeHome.com, are up for grabs for anyone with inspiring ideas on promoting the Conservative cause.

Editor Tim Montomery has launched the Inaugural Conservative Movement Awards and is placing a special emphasis on internet technologies, hoping to encourage a stronger and more dynamic movement, as well as recognising the achievements of our “heroes” within the Conservative movement for their unstinting support.

Stage One begins today with an intivation to ConservativeHome readers to decide the awards categories. Suggestions, including thought provoking bloggers, are:

  • A campaigning organisation
  • A blogger
  • A parliamentarian
  • A columnist
  • An author
  • A think tank
  • A broadcast programme
  • A local hero
  • An international achiever
  • A wooden spoon

I notice one of the awards is to be presented by Iain Duncan Smith. Nothing personal, but if we are looking for dynamic ideas, could the presentation please be made by someone who is recognised for possessing those qualities too.
