I hope Kate and Wills wore their thermals this evening at the spectacular Thursford Show as it’s freezing there! They are likely to be sitting on hard tiered seating, and can count themselves lucky if they are close to any heating, if their experience is anything like mine. Brrrrrr!

Despite this, Thursford is a magical place which everyone should experience in the festive season once in their lifetime as it is so uplifting. The London Palladium style variety show is held there each Christmas out in the wilds of Norfolk in large barn like buildings filled with steam engines and galloping horses merry go rounds, and also has a special Santa’s journey. It is described as the largest show of its kind in the country, if not Europe; it’s West End meets Broadway, and right in a Norfolk country lane. It would be right up the Queen’s street too!

I took pa-in-law there for the first time last year on the recommendation of my Uncle Peter who visits every year without fail. And what a priceless coup it is for Thursford to welcome Prince William and Kate on their first official engagement since they announced plans to marry, putting Thursford firmly on the global map!

I wonder if they will return next year…
